Silverlight Spy at MIX10

Last week at MIX10 in Las Vegas Silverlight Spy was present in a variety of ways. First of all, I was running around wearing t-shirts with Silverlight Spy printed on the back. That generated a lot of spontaneous conversations with happy users providing great feedback. Furthermore using Twitter I played this little Silverlight Spy hide & seek game which resulted in three lucky attendees winning a free personal license of the software.

Silverlight Spy also made an appearance in various sessions. Shawn Wildermuth did a great job demonstrating Silverlight Spy in both sessions "Securing Microsoft Silverlight Applications" and "Debugging Silverlight Applications". Silverlight Spy was also listed as profiling tool in session "Developing Multiplayer Games with Microsoft Silverlight 4"

Don't worry about that expired license Shawn is using, he is a licensed user. Have you seen Silverlight Spy in action in other sessions? Let me know.

Silverlight Spy is a great tool to figure out why your application is behaving the way it is. It also raises awareness that Silverlight applications can be easily reverse engineered. Which is a good thing, for you can take measures to secure your application.

What effect does MIX10 have on Silverlight Spy?

The obvious next step for Silverlight Spy is to support Silverlight on the brand new Window Phone 7 Series. First Floor Software is already hard at work figuring out how this can be achieved. Stay tuned for more information on this topic.
